ABOUT US
Prairie Community Endeavours began, when a group of concerned community members came together in December 1992, to discuss ways of providing services which would enhance the lives of individuals with varying disabilities. It was decided that the Saskatchewan communities to be served would include Chitek Lake, Glaslyn, Leoville, Medstead, Rabbit Lake, Shell Lake, Spiritwood and the surrounding rural areas.
Prairie Community Endeavours registered as a non-profit organization
and became incorporated in February, 1993. Since then the organization has operated under the guidance of a volunteer Board of Directors with the purpose being a nonprofit organization whose aim is to assist adults with varying abilities to meet their needs and improve their quality of life.
Our objectives were to establish, operate and maintain a group home and Day Program for adults with physical and intellectual disabilities, to develop, enhance and maintain a positive relationship with the community and to provide a positive opportunities and programs for the individuals we support.
Prairie Community Endeavours believes all support should be person centered to the needs of individuals, purposeful, flexible, thoughtful and progressive in nature. PCE will follow and guide their operation so as to reflect the CPP and SP set out by the Government of Saskatchewan and Inclusion Saskatchewan. The CPP and SP will be reviewed and changed as needed or at least every 2 years to reflect the participants changing needs. The team approach is incorporated in decision making, the team includes the individual, parents/guardians, staff members and other significant individuals in the members life.
PCE will provide individuals with residential and day programing which will assist them in developing and achieving a healthy quality of life by assisting individuals with meeting person goals, developing independence, social and sensory skills and community integration through recreation, education and vocational programming based on individuals.
It is the philosophy of PCE that each individual should be treated with dignity, respect, compassion and thoughtfulness regardless of their physical or intellectual ability
